This Cinnamon Supper Cake printable is something that is special to my family. My mother-in-law has had a framed version of this Cinnamon Supper Cake in her kitchen since I met her. Below, I'm sharing the story of the framed print and how it came to be, along with my illustrated recipe version that you can print for your own kitchen.

I know this technically isn't an overly fall-specific recipe, however, after my first illustrated recipe printable earlier in the series, this Cinnamon Supper Cake become a big reader request. So, I thought it would be the perfect fit to close out our big fall printable series.

I feel like the title of this treat pretty much sounds like the best thing ever (who wouldn't want cake for supper?). And let me preface this by saying, I've never actually eaten Cinnamon Supper Cake (I know, I know). I think since I met my mother-in-law 17 years ago, she and I have alternated (and overlapped) being on diets and have never had the pleasure of enjoying such a fun treat together. Ironically, as I was telling her about this post, both of us were mentally trying to figure out a way to create this deliciousness in a low-carb way (almond flour? stevia? prayers?). But, she has assured me it is definitely delicious and feels very fallish with the melted butter/powdered sugar/cinnamon topping oozing into a straight-out-of-the-oven cake.

The Story of Cinnamon Supper Cake

The first part of this story is how this ended up here on I Should Be Mopping the Floor. In case you're new here, today's illustrated recipe is the finale in a 30-day free fall printable series. Earlier in the series, I posted a fun illustrated recipe printable for pumpkin bread (linked down below). I shared that I wanted to put a favorite framed recipe in my kitchen and I had been inspired by one in my mother-in-law's kitchen (hers was the now infamous Cinnamon Supper Cake Recipe). I had no idea the buzz that I'd create around the Cinnamon Supper Cake. I had a few comments on the post and a ton of replies to my morning email from folks wanting the Cinnamon Supper Cake recipe. This sent me on an afternoon texting frenzy with my mother-in-law. She was quite happy to oblige my need for the recipe.

She texted me the photo above of the framed recipe that she'd had in her kitchen for quite some time. It was always tucked into a cute vignette and I would admire its sweetness quite often. She also shared the absolutely precious story behind it.

The above recipe is actually cut off the back of a C&H Sugar sack from when my mother-in-law was about 8 or 9 years old.

She says, "This was the first cake from 'scratch' that I had made. The recipe makes an 8x8" cake. We needed more due to the size of our family, so we doubled the recipe to a 9x13". The notations to the left of each ingredient are the amounts for doubling. My mother did this to make it easier for me to make without help. We made this fairly often."

Seriously. Is this not the sweetest story? I love that she framed and kept the first recipe she was able to make without help. I mean...pass the tissues, please. So, today's post is for my sweet mother-in-law, Nyla, and her Cinnamon Supper Cake recipe that is living on due to the framed print I always spied in her kitchen. And if anyone wants to come up with a low carb version, we'd both welcome it with open arms.

Thank you, Nyla. Not sure I'd have such a fabulous finale to the fall series without this fun printable.

Printing Your Cinnamon Supper Cake Recipe

  • Just a small note to let you know that I'm not a food blogger (I dabbled in that years ago and it wasn't a good fit). So, I don't have a fancy recipe plug-in thing-a-majig. But, yes, this is a recipe you can in fact create yourself.
  • This printable recipe is for personal use only. Please do not recreate or print this recipe with the intent of reselling it in any shape or form. You may certainly gift it or use it in your workplace, though.
  • This printable is available in both 8x10" and 5x7" horizontal versions (with the intricate details of some of the ingredients, 4x6" would have been too small). Both sizes are available in PDF and JPEG formats.
  • The PDF prints are easy-peasy to print at home onto letter-sized white cardstock. Cardstock is much better for printables than regular printer paper. Grab a pack here on Amazon (they have the best price...it's where I purchase my own). The 5x7" PDF comes with two prints per page (one to keep and one to share).
  • The JPEG prints can be printed like a photograph image. You can even upload to your favorite photo-printing place to print for you.
